The City of Russellville held a public meeting Thursday, March 16, 2017 to inform the community about the progress being made on the complex wastewater treatment facility improvements project and the planned sewer rate increase. Thank you to all who attended. Excellent dialogue resulted from the questions and answers. We hope everyone came away with a good understanding of the project, why it is needed, the agencies and programs providing critical funding, how the financing plan was structured, and what that means to the utility customer.
An incremental increase will occur each quarter for the next two years to meet the requirements of the funding and regulatory agencies. At the end of the two year period, we will be at the rate established by these agencies. The first phase of the rate increase will take effect in April and will appear on your May 1st bill. At this time, the project is in the design phase and financing (low interest loan and grants) is in the final stage of being secured for the 2.4 million dollar project. We will use this page to keep you up to date on the progress of the project.
