The City of Russellville was established in 1838. By 1881 the construction of the railroad from Jefferson City to Lebanon was complete. The railway was referred to as Jefferson City- Lebanon Railroad or the St. Louis- Jefferson City- Kansas Railroad. The rail line was later bought by the Union Pacific. Passenger trains were discontinued in 1932 but the Railway stayed active until 1963. (Still under construction)
